Branches

Floating Teller

Rate of pay $17.00 per hour, plus $1.25 stipend

First New York FCU is seeking entry-level candidates for a Floating Teller position. The floater will be scheduled appropriately based on need at any given branch location. We offer competitive starting rates. Position includes benefits. Schedule may require a half day on Saturday. We are looking for individuals with great communication and customer service skills. A Teller is expected to efficiently and accurately process financial transactions with minimum to no error. Duties include cross-selling products and services. Tellers are expected to provide quality member service to credit union members. Recent background must include cash handling experience. Training Provided.

Full Time Teller at the Saratoga Branch

Rate of pay $17.00 per hour

First New York FCU is seeking entry-level candidates for a Teller/Member Services position.  The candidate will serve as Teller when necessary while also performing the duties of the Member Service Representative. Schedule requires half day on Saturday.  We are looking for individuals with great communication and customer service skills.  A Teller is expected to efficiently and accurately process financial transactions with minimum to no error.  Duties include cross-selling products and services.  Tellers are expected to provide quality member service to credit union members.  Recent background must include cash handling experience.  The MSR will maximize every opportunity to increase membership, refer consumer and real estate loans as well as promote e-services to the membership in the branch.  Will be expected to gain a thorough knowledge of all credit union products/services, open new accounts, service all accounts, and cross-sell products/services to benefit the member needs.  Previous experience in a branch credit union/bank preferred for MSR duties. Member Service Representative at the Niskayuna Branch

Rate of pay $18.25 per hour

First New York FCU is seeking candidates for Member Service Representative (MSR) positions in our branch offices.  Experience working in a credit union/bank is required. Our MSR provides credit union services to members in the branch environment. Responsibilities include opening new memberships, referring consumer and real estate loans to Loan Sales team, promoting e-banking services and cross selling products/services to benefit member needs.  Position will entail working as a team to meet branch goals.  Candidate will be expected to have or obtain Notary Public designation. Candidate must demonstrate a highly motivated, positive, outgoing personality to ensure an optimal member experience.  Previous banking experience preferred.

Compliance Department

Part-Time Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) Analyst

Rate of pay range $15.00 – $19.00 per hour

Responsibility includes executing compliance functions, elements of the Bank Secrecy Act/Anti-Money Laundering/OFAC programs, and daily transaction monitoring. Will identify and investigate suspicious and high risk activity in order to protect the credit union’s assets. Assist to ensure compliance with applicable regulations such as the Bank Secrecy Act. Transactions will be analyzed and investigated to identify suspicious activity with software and reports. Will provide compliance support for special projects. A business focused associates or bachelor’s degree preferred with at least one year of banking or related compliance experience. Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, possess strong communication abilities, analytical skills and a strong work ethic. Required to maintain confidentiality.

Contact Center

Member Service Specialist

Rate of pay range $18.25 – $19.25 per hour

First New York Federal Credit Union is seeking a Member Service Specialist (MSS) position in our Contact Center located in Colonie, NY. Previous financial branch experience in a credit union or bank is preferred. The MSS provides credit union services to members via telephone, internet, and mail. This is a full-time position for an individual with outstanding customer service, writing and communication skills.

Job responsibilities include:

  • Account servicing.
  • Referring consumer and real estate loans to the Loan Sales team.
  • Cross-selling products/services to benefit the member’s needs.
  • Promoting e-banking and meeting Contact Center goals.

Must demonstrate a highly motivated, positive, outgoing personality to meet and exceed expectations with every interaction.

Information Technology

PC Technician

Rate of pay range $19.00 – $22.00 per hour

First New York Federal Credit Union is seeking an entry-level PC Technician who will setup, install, repair and maintain PC workstations and peripherals. The candidate will also be responsible for software installs, updates and patches. Home base 2 Wall Street, Colonie, NY – may travel to branch locations.  Candidate should be knowledgeable in:

  • PC and printer repair and maintenance.
  • Good diagnostic and problem-solving ability.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Attention to detail.

Will provide first level response to trouble tickets and calls, administer end-user support and assistance, and coordinate inventory. May assist in off-hour support and maintenance. Preferred A+ certification, able to lift at least 40 lbs, requires reliable transportation to travel to other locations (mileage reimbursement), and have a clean driver’s license.

Lending Department

Consumer Loan Underwriter

Rate of pay starting range $19.24-$28.37 per hour

The Consumer Loan Underwriter will utilize good judgment and underwriting skills to quickly evaluate loan applications for risk and approve loan requests, which are structured to perform and meet member needs. Responsibilities include:

  • Exercises sound judgment and discretion to approve or deny loans as specified in the Board approved loan policies based on compliance with applicable laws and regulations and credit criteria; exercises sound judgment and discretion to establish conditions for loan disbursement, issue disbursement instructions to loan processors.
  • Construct and approve loan offers in accordance with delegated approval authority and loan policy. 
  • Utilizes policy and procedure to build performing loans.
  • Document adverse actions as needed and prepare systems to produce denial letters.
  • Conduct credit analysis on each loan application including cash flow analysis, debt ratio calculation, credit scoring and collateral valuation.
  • Provide and ensure that all regulatory disclosures are sent in a timely and compliant manner. 
  • Adhere to code of ethics.
  • Approves loans with any stipulations. Clarifies any stipulation discrepancies with department processors as needed.
  • Develops cross-sell and up-sell opportunities to maximize member relationship.
  • Consistently meets established productivity performance standards. 
  • Adheres to all local, state, and federal laws/regulatory requirements as related to functional areas.
  • Maintain a proficient knowledge of all credit union products and services, as well as industry trends and benchmarks, and products and services offered by the competition.
  • Have and maintain the NMLS designation.
  • Performs other duties as may be assigned.

Real Estate Loan Processor

Rate of pay starting range $19.00 per hour

Performs all required functions as they relate to consumer real estate loan processing.  This includes managing a pending real estate loan application queue, following-up with members on gathering needed information and recommending the best option to meet the member needs with the goal of approving and scheduling a closing in a timely manner.  Will review appraisals, consumer credit reports, flood certifications, title/stub searches and documentation making detailed comments to present to Consumer Underwriter.  Will process consumer and real estate loan-closing documents and prepare commitment package.  Three to five years of similar or related experience in Real Estate Loan Processing required, along with general computer knowledge of Microsoft Suite.  Must be professional with members and staff both in person and on the telephone.

Training Department

Training and Curriculum Specialist

Rate of pay range $20.00 – $27.00 per hour

The Training and Curriculum Specialist will develop and provide training for both front and back office team members with a focus on new Teller and Branch/Contact Center service rep training. They will also develop and provide training on additional topics and initiatives relevant to the credit union as needed. The training curriculum will consist of classroom and on-the-job training with special emphasis on new hires. The Training and Curriculum Specialist must maintain up-to-date and proficient Teller and service rep skills. Will be required to assist in writing and maintaining procedures for manuals, participate on committees and/or special training projects, and will be provided the opportunity to attend professional development events. Must possess a desire to assist others in their professional growth and development and have the ability to adapt instruction to meet training needs. A bachelor’s degree or equivalent training experience is required. Must have excellent computer skills with a proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, excellent communication, writing ability and organization.
